PEER Kindness promotes the social development theory and Positive Youth Development very similarly to CTC. We meet regularly with our youth board and share knowledge together. They are interacting with their world that is vastly different for most than the world we grew up in and are the experts in what they need. As a youth serving organization, we need to learn from our youth what they need, what they are experiencing and provide them a welcoming, comfortable, safe place to grow.
CTC and PEER Kindness are a perfect match, as we both work with youth to create change in the community. For PEER Kindness it is reducing bullying and creating a positive, empathetic, encouraging, respectful and kind environment-positive protective factors. We became a part of the coalition because as a youth serving organization, we know how important it is for youth to have protective factors in their communities. For us that looks like a safe, kind, caring and compassionate atmosphere where we help to educate about bullying, compassion, empathy and kindness as well as help to navigate difficult situations.
